Dr. Verina Wild is Senior Researcher at the Department of Philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) and Affiliate Researcher at the Institute ofof Medicine, History and Theory, LMU.
Her Habilitation with the title “Justice and Vulnerability in Bioethics“ is currently under review at the University of Zurich where she held a position as Senior Teaching and Research Associate from 2008-2016 at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine. Her current research interests are ethics and health of migrants; (gender) justice in health; ethics of mobile Health (mHealth) and methods in ethical decision-making. Verina is supervising two PhD students in Zurich, and one in Munich who are working in the area of migration and health. Four PhD and doctoral students have completed their work under her (co-)supervision.
February - April 2017 she was DFG-visiting research fellow at the “Center for Values, Ethics and Law in Medicine” (VELiM), University of Sydney. August - October 2011 she was SNSF-visiting research fellow at the “Center for the History and Ethics of Public Health” of the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University New York. From 2008 - 2010 she was member of the steering group for the Clinical Ethics Committee at the University Hospital Zurich and has intermittently served as Clinical Ethicist. For her work on drug research on pregnant women she received the German Young Scholars Award in Medical Ethics. She was DAAD/Carlo Schmid-stipendiary at the Ethics and Health Unit, World Health Organization, Geneva. Before becoming a scholar in bioethics she worked as a physician in internal medicine in Berlin, Germany and gathered work experience in Tansania, Scotland, Spain, Argentina.
