My research is at the intersection of philosophy of action, logic and epistemic game theory. I use logical and game-theoretical methods to investigate philosophical questions concerning practical reasoning and rational decision making in interaction.

In my doctoral dissertation, completed in 2008 at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation under the supervision of Johan van Benthem and Martin van Hees, I studied the role of intentions in social situations, using tools from modal logic and epistemic game theory. In recent years this interest for intentions and interaction lead me to the look at theories of group or collective agency, especially in relation with logical and game-theoretical accounts of coordination and cooperation. See for instance this paper.

After completing my PhD I joined the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), to take part of the project Shared Commitments and Common Knowledge. Here I got interested in theories of public deliberation, both philosophical and formal, and in the more general question of interactive rationality. This led to some formal results on consensus formation, and to a longer-term book project, in collaboration with Eric Pacuit, on the rational decision making in interaction. (See my website for details.)
