Jake Chandler studied at King's College Cambridge, the University of Sussex, and finally King's College London, where he received a PhD under the joint supervision of James Hopkins and David Papineau.

Currently Lecturer in Philosophy at La Trobe University, he was previously Research Fellow at the University of Leuven, Adam Smith Visiting Professor in Philosophy and Economics at the University of Bayreuth and Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Glasgow. He also spent some time as a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics.

His research interests pertain principally to theories of rational choice and inference, spanning topics in philosophy of science, epistemology, philosophical logic, artificial intelligence and decision theory. He is currently working on an AGM-based qualitative model of reasons for belief and reasons for action.
